I saw some people talking about how we can't expect Twice to do cute concepts anymore because they're now all in their mid-twenties to late twenties, with their youngest member Tzuyu turning 25 in June and their oldest Nayeon being 28 (turning 29 in about half a year) right now. I fully understand if it's the Twice members' decision, but does doing cute concepts necessarily mean singing about a high school crush/puppy love?
I'd be interested in knowing if anyone here has examples of adult idols, especially those who are around 25+, successfully pulling off a cute concept without invoking high school.
I think Loveade by VIVIZ counts?
Loveade by VIVIZ:
The members were around 24-25 during this era. There's no school uniform stuff to be found, no school settings, just a bunch of young adult women who work at some kind of food truck. Yet I think this is definitely a cute concept, with all the super bright colors, cutesy singing and rap, and the big smiley balloon throughout the MV.
Okay, so this one isn't really K-Pop and the members are definitely on the younger side of adult (19 to 23). But there's this P-Pop (Philippine pop) idol group that just had their comeback recently: https://youtu.be/J1Ip2sC_lss
It's superrrr cute and bright, but it doesn't put them in a high school setting or anything like that in the MV, promotional photos, stages, or the lyrics. It's a bunch of young adult women singing about love. If anything, the lyrics seem to be a cutesy take on a situationship.
So anyway, yeah, does anyone know any more examples of adult idols pulling off cute concepts (without the MVs/whatever making them act like they're in high school)? I'm sure it's possible. People still fall in love, have crushes, etc. when they graduate from high school and become legal adults...
